This started life out as a machine trapunto technique...I strip pieced some neutrals to about 8.5x11.5". I added some tape measure twill tape along one of the seams...you can see 11" peeking out to the right of the top of the trapunto. Then I added the trapunto, added a double pocket on the inside, finished the edges and I had another notebook cover to hold a pad of paper that measures 8x5". Here's the inside:
And then I made a postcard with the leftovers! BTW...I took a crooked picture...that pocket is not crooked!

Very nice, Dotti. I've been working on a notebook cover, too.
Both project, sooo pretty! I love the neutrals.
I just think this is just too cool....I love it and it's beautiful...what a great idea to use pieces you weren't happy with...they are both stunning......
Thank you for reminding me of Trapunto. I haven't used it in such a long time. Your piece is really wonderful.
Both projects look fabulous.
This is beautiful! I love bright colors but also love these muted, nostalgic-lookiing pieces!
Clever use of art journal quilts!
Great gifts or ETSY sales!!! ;-)) Or your very own sketchbook, etc.
